Saavi Services for the Blind is a nonprofit organization in Tucson, Arizona dedicated to empowering people who are blind or have low vision through comprehensive rehabilitation and life-skills training. They offer programs that teach non-visual techniques and confidence-building skills for all ages, helping participants live independently, pursue education or employment, and engage meaningfully in their communities. Services include independent living training, job readiness, orientation and mobility, Braille instruction, youth and transition programs, and adaptive technology education — all designed to support productive, confident lives for individuals with visual impairments.

Playground Space Project Goals

Our project goals were to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging outdoor play environment through the installation of a new playground system, playground equipment, and poured-in-place rubber playground flooring. This improvement provides children of all ages and abilities with a fun and accessible space that encourages physical activity and social interaction. The new equipment and surfacing enhances the overall safety, improves durability for long term use, and supports ADA accessibility standards to ensure the playground is welcoming and usable for all.

Commercial Playground Project Details and Features

This project includes the installation of one Columbia Playground Set designed to provide a variety of engaging play activities, along with a Rhythm Group of three musical instruments to encourage sensory exploration and creative expression. Additional features included play equipment like a Whizzy Dizzy and Sit-N-Spin for dynamic spinning play, a Curved Post Panel Climber to promote strength and coordination, and two Flower Bells to enhance interactive sound play. The scope also included 1,500 square feet of poured-in-place (PIP) rubberized flooring, creating a seamless, impact-attenuating surface that enhances safety, accessibility, and long-term durability for the playground area.
