Sail shades provide a level of aesthetics that cannot be found with other shades. They are perfect for creating an appealing architectural design and a great solution for places looking to make a statement and impress their guests such as at community pools, resorts, car dealerships and city parks.
Most sail shades are made from UV Stabilized Polyethylene. This is a hydrocarbon material that feels a bit like a woven vinyl. It is not machine washable, the fabric is water resistant, but not waterproof so you are able to clean if needed.
In general, there are three types of shapes for sail shades: equilateral, isosceles, and hyperbolic. In equilateral triangular sails, all three sides are the same length. For isosceles triangular sails, two sides are the same length while the third side is shorter. Having a shorter leg allows the cables on the longest spans to keep uniform tension throughout the canopy. Hyperbolic sails traditionally have four sides, and the profile of the sail canopy is defined by having two high points and two low points on opposing corners. The height difference between high & low attachment based on canopy size.
