Client Profile

Broward Children’s Center, located in Dania Beach, Florida, is a nonprofit organization that supports infants, children, and young adults (up to age 21) with special health care needs, including those who are medically fragile or have developmental disabilities. Founded in 1971, the Center provides a continuum of care designed to help children thrive and to strengthen families through services such as developmental and educational programs, respite care, case management, family support and enrichment, and connections to community resources—along with access to specialized pediatric care through its broader network of programs.

Commercial Playset Project Goals

Our project goals for the installation of new playground equipment and a commercial shade structure were to create a safer, more inclusive, and more engaging outdoor play environment for all children. The playground equipment provides developmentally appropriate opportunities that support physical activity and social interaction while meeting current safety and accessibility standards. The shade sail structure enhances comfort and usability by helping protect children and caregivers from excessive sun exposure, extending playtime throughout the day and across seasons. Together, these improvements were designed to increase community use, promote healthy recreation, and ensure the space is welcoming and enjoyable for years to come.

ADA Accessible Playground Project Details and Features

The installation of the Butler Overlook ADA Playground created an inclusive and engaging playground area designed for children of all abilities. This project included accessible and sensory rich features such as a glockenspiel for interactive musical play, a Honeycomb hand drums musical set that encourages rhythm and creative expression, and a wheelchair accessible merry go round that allows children using mobility devices to participate alongside their peers. To increase comfort and extend usability throughout the day, a shade canopy was installed to help protect children and caregivers from direct sun exposure. Together, these improvements support equitable access, social connection, and meaningful play for the entire community.
