This guide is intended for customers who have ordered products without installation services from Pro Playgrounds. If Pro Playgrounds is handling your installation, our team will coordinate and receive all shipments on your behalf, and no additional action is required from you.
Dedicated Truck
A dedicated truck carries only your order, resulting in faster delivery and fewer handling points.
LTL Shipment
LTL shipments are more cost-effective but may take longer due to multiple stops and transfers.
Freight deliveries operate very differently from standard package deliveries. Delivery trucks are large, have limited maneuverability, and may not be able to access tight spaces, narrow drives, small parking lots, or unpaved areas. Deliveries are made to the rear of the truck, and drivers do not assist with unloading.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the delivery location is accessible for a freight truck and that adequate labor and/or equipment is available to unload the shipment upon arrival.
If the delivery truck is unable to access the intended delivery area, the shipment will be offloaded at the nearest accessible location as determined by the driver. From that point, it is the customer’s responsibility to transport the materials to their final destination.
Carrier Limitations
- Deliveries are made by freight trucks ranging from approximately 28’ to 53’ in length
- Trucks have limited maneuverability and cannot access tight or obstructed areas
- Trucks will not drive on unpaved surfaces
- Equipment may arrive as pallets, crates, boxes, loose components, or a combination
- Drivers do not unload equipment
- Delivery is made to the back of the truck only
Customer Responsibilities
- Unloading all materials upon delivery
- Providing necessary labor and/or equipment
- Ensuring the site is accessible for delivery
Any storage or redelivery fees incurred due to lack of communication are the responsibility of the customer.
Count All Items
Before signing the delivery receipt:
- Count all pallets, crates, and packages
- Compare the shipment to the Bill of Lading (BOL) and packing list
- Be aware of potential missing components, even if package counts match
- Note any missing items on the delivery receipt
Inspect for Damage
Carefully inspect all items for:
- Visible damage (scratches, dents, punctures)
- Signs of concealed damage (torn packaging, crushed boxes, damaged wrapping)
- Clearly note all damage on the delivery receipt
- Have the driver acknowledge/sign the notes
- Take photos for documentation
Do Not Refuse Delivery
Always accept the shipment and document any issues.
- Refusing delivery can result in additional freight charges
- It may significantly delay replacement or resolution
72-Hour Reporting Requirement
All missing items or damage must be reported within 72 hours of delivery.
- This includes both visible and concealed damage
- Claims reported after 72 hours may be denied
- Replacement parts may be subject to additional charges
Packaging Requirements
Keep all packaging, do not throw anything away
- All packaging must be retained if damage is discovered
- Freight carriers may require inspection of packaging
- Discarding packaging may result in a denied claim
Final Notes about Shipments
Freight deliveries require planning, preparation, and careful inspection. By understanding the process and following these guidelines, you can help ensure a smooth delivery and avoid unnecessary delays or additional costs.
